It might be difficult to decide whether to repair your wood fence or replace it. If the damage is limited to one area and minor, a fence repair would be a cost effective solution. However, structural damage such as post rot, the age of fence or the percent of fence that is damaged, a fence replacer will have its long term benefits.
How many posts are damaged ?
Repairing a few damaged posts are easy and cost effective but needing to repair several posts might be more suitable for replacing. A good rule of thumb is more then 10% of your fence that is damages, its best to replace everything.
How Old is the Wood Fence ?
Pressure Treated Wood Fences tend to last about 15 years. If your wood fence is getting close to that milestone and it needs work in areas, it’s better to invest in replacing your wood fence instead of repairing certain parts. This could be more costly over the long run
